2 for 1 cocktail at the Argyle

Back at the Argyle. This time together with our new writer Colin! If there is 2 for 1 cocktail, me and Colin are definitely going to be there. And it´s not any shitty 2 for 1 vodka soda. We are talking about listed cocktails, mixed by professional bartenders that has both the knowledge and the passion to be able to create something awesome! Place 1´s  mixologist was our bartender of the night. Of course, we don´t trust anyone else!

Here are some of the creations that we had

Pink Tingo… Just because it´s pink doesn´t mean that a guy can´t drink it. This is a really refreshing cocktail that contains Dry gin, fresh pear, fresh lemon, little bit of sugar and soda water. It´s perfectly balanced. The dryness from the gin, and the fruitiness from the pears… mmmm this cocktail was just that good that it didn´t matter that it was pink… he he

Peached Ice Tea… Nice refreshing ice tea, with a taste of citrus… add some vodka and peach bitters, perfectomundo…  And the fact that they use real tea in this one really raise this cocktail up high… I mean you can really smell and taste the tea, wonderfull!

Gyle Gria … What can I say, an improved old classic. They´re doing this Argyle style, With class and style. Really nice taste from the aged rum, fruitiness from oranges and berries and of course perfectly balanced with fresh lemon and sugar. Of course that haven´t forgot about the thing that makes the Sangria that special… Red red wine… In this case a Tempranillo

Raspberry Mule… Wow! Raspberry, blackberries, vodka, fresh lemon, sugar, bitters and ginger beer… do I need to say anything else? This is a really nice creation. If you just look at it you´ll get a sense of freshness. There´s just something about the color red that makes people go wild… he he!

Passion Rock…. (To the left in the picture below)That rough reposado tequila, together with orange liquor, newly cut passionfruit, bitter grapefruit, fresh lime and sugar really feels like the sweetest dream as it goes down…

Slippery Sam… (To the right in the picture above) I just love rum, for starters… mmm! This is one of those cocktails that you don´t make one of. If you make one and somebody sees it, they´ll just go: I´ll have one of those. And they order it because of its beauty… lucky for them (and us) the “inside” is as beautiful as the outside. sA fresh watermelon creation, together with aged rum, a vanilla liquor that contains 43 different herbs and some of that delicious passionfruit… This is a real exotic one! God help my soul, kinda miss the Caribbean… Got to love that combination… Passionfruit and aged rum! Why is the rum always gone…?

Rocksberry… This is the girls favorite… Vodka, fresh strawberries, fresh lime and to finish this cocktail of they use cloudy apple juice… I´m man enough to admit that I liked this one, so is Colin… actually he had ten more later that night… No he didn´t! maybe, who knows…

This is obviously two classic mojitos… Look good, and tasted wonderfull. In this business the outside counts as much as the inside… It should be beautiful to look at as well as it should be a joy for the soul and your senses when you´re drinking your cocktail.

Caipriniha and The Long Island Ice Tea… The Caipriniha is a classic like its cousin Caiprioska…  The only different is the spirit that you put in. Caipriniha = Cachaca and Caiprioska = Vodka! Caipriniha rules, if you ask me…

The second one is a real classic, but served far more better than many other places would serve the Long Island Ice Tea… It doesn´t matter what kind of cocktail it is, you always do it with passion and dedication.

For Life And The Adventures Ahead... CHEERS!!!!!!!

beer tasting at argyle

After a nice day at the beach out in Bondi, I decided to go in to the rocks and the Argyle to visit Bobby who was working. He gave me a small beer tasting, which was nice. Three German beers and one Austrian beer.

Stiegl – An Austrian lager beer, sweet an smooth. I found it a little bit to easy to drink. It didn´t actually hade that distinct beer taste. “chicks beer”… SORRY girls for using that word!

Paulaner – A German pilsner. Light but tasteful. Can imagine that he was the noisy one at the party in the stomach. A beer that is not average but still nothing that special to keep him in the spotlight the whole night. A nice, tasty and cocky pilsner.

Franziskaner -  German Weiss bier. How nice isn´t a cold weiss bier during a hot day. It doesn´t matter if you´re at the beach or outside on the courtyard of argyle. You will enjoy that beer. Tasteful, smooth, but still hard and raw in its taste. This is a beer for the weiss bier lover. And the best thing about having the beer at argyle is that you can have one more and it´s still as cold as the first one. Fuck the beach, go to The Argyle instead.

Munich Blonde – A German Low carb, low alcohol beer. What can I say, fuck that. Didn´t try it, low alcohol??? For me, forget it! No I´m just kidding! As any other low carb beer this one was easy to drink, fresh an smooth. But the Germans are knowned for their brewing skills. And they´ve created a low carb, low alcohol beer that actually tastes beer.
I´m not saying that it was the best one I had, but you got to applaud the Germans for their skills regarding brewing. And of course their funny clothes, I love those and so does Bobby, I can prove it! Ha ha… octoberfest! He loves it

Lemon And Basil Martini

Andreas

How wonderful isn´t it when guests come back to you for the same cocktail, or specifically asks for you to make their cocktail? It´s always nice to hear that your work is appreciated. Specially since the cocktail I made was a first try. Lemon and basil martini… With inspiration from the cocktail menu we have at Hotel Ravesis. But I wanted  it to be a little bit more special and without any juices at all. And then add a little spiciness, but nothing strong. I needed something with a lot of herbs… The green Chartreuse was chosen to represent the “a lot of herb” side of the cocktail. So I washed the shaker and the ice with green chartreuse, poured it out but kept the ice. I added belvedere citrus vodka, noilly prat dry vermouth, limoncello, fresh basil leafs and lemon zests. (a zest is the outer layer of the shell) I then used the barspoon to mix it all, viciously. I then double strained it into a chilled martiniglass and used a burned lemon twist and a basil leaf as garnish. This was a hit.
It was a couple here from Melbourne, he was the first to try this basil smelling creation, and he loved it. He actually came back the day after and thanked me for the cocktail and asked for one more. Apparently he hadn´t stopped talking about It since the first time he got it. It´s makes me happy when things like that happen. As I said, it´s always nice to hear that your work is appreciated.

Ravesis, Bondi beach

Ravesis i located in the very center of Bondi beach on campbell parade. It´s a place with a normal bar on ground floor and a wine bar on the second floor with a nice balcony. But they also have the best cocktail bar on campbell parade called Drift. I went the on x-mas eve for some good good cocktails and I left with a big grin on my face!

Behind the bar that night was place1´s own Mixologist Andreas!

First a got a superb Zubrowka based apple cocktail that was amazing. It just disappeared i my mouth. And my friend had a strawberry mocktail wich she liked, but HEY what about the alchooool? After my apple cocktail I got "the bloody cuban" which is kind of a rum based old fashioned with grapefruit. The was amazingly good! It got m up to seventh heaven oh yeah!!

Thet also make cocktailjugs at ravesis and they have a pretty cool way serving them! this is some lychee cocktailjugs Andreas is making for som patrons. yummie !! I definitely coming back for more cocktails, hmm maybe tonight`? YAAYAA!!

For life and the adventures ahead, cheers!!
